IREM Edmonton Chapter #54 History

The IREM Canada Council comes under the umbrella of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) under regularly negotiated agreements with IREM US. The IREM Edmonton Chapter was formed in 1966 with George W. T. Grover as its first President and only 5 members. In the early years the Chapter struggled to attract new members because of a lack of local courses being offered, but in the 1980s and 1990s the membership grew rapidly to our current total of over 100 members and candidates. Over the years the Chapter has been involved with or organized many Trade Shows, sponsored countless property management courses, held monthly luncheons, given out scholarships, won the Don Hill Trophy 5 times and in 2003 won the Chapter of the Year Award jointly with the REIC Edmonton Chapter. In 2001 the Edmonton Chapters of IREM and REIC began holding joint luncheons and executive meetings to further facilitate the mission of REIC and IREM.
