Bernie's Message

Bernie has taken over chapter president from Peter Smith for the 2008-2009 year. Bernie has been a licensed Realtor since 1991.  His career started with Dorland Property Management & Realty Ltd. where he worked mainly with Real Estate investors. He became the office manager in 2004.  In 2006 the company was sold to York West Asset Management. A new company called York West Realty Group Inc. was formed later that year and Bernie is currently the Broker/Manager of that company.   Bernie received his CRES designation and joined REIC in 1997. He joined the board of directors in 2002 as the CRES rep. and later the membership coordinator. He received his FRI in 2006. Bernie believes strongly in education and feels that REIC offers the best to the Real Estate professionals who truly want to stand out from the crowd. He has encouraged a number of colleagues over the years to obtain designations and will continue to do so as chapter president.

Babita Khurana CPM®, RPA was elected as president of IREM Edmonton Chapter #54 on May 16,2008.Babita started her career in 1999 with Tawa Properties as a commercial property manager and later as a facility manager, Babita later moved to NewWest Enterprise Property Group where she was a property manager for a number of years. Currently working as a commercial manager for Westcorp Properties Inc., her portfolio consists of office, retail and parkade’s. Further Babita received her Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation in 2003 and her Certified Property Manager (CPM®) designation in 2007 and is also licensed under the Alberta Real Estate Act. Babita has been on the IREM board since May 2005, giving back to the industry dedicated to enhancing the professionalism of Property Management. Good management translates into value, well managed properties improve the quality of life for people who live, work and shop in them with this in mind Babita will be encouraging colleagues, friends and employers to take steps towards earning designations.
